Legal Aid Services in Somalia

Access to justice is a fundamental right, but many Somalis face barriers to legal representation. This page provides information about legal aid options and how SICLE supports access to justice.

SICLE Pro Bono Network

SICLE coordinates pro bono legal services through our network of volunteer lawyers. Legal professionals in our network provide free representation to individuals who cannot afford to pay for legal services.

If you need legal assistance and cannot afford a lawyer, contact SICLE to be connected with a pro bono attorney. While we cannot guarantee assistance in every case, we will do our best to help.

Understanding Your Rights

Many legal problems can be avoided or resolved through better understanding of the law. SICLE supports legal awareness through:

  • Public information about legal rights and processes
  • Community outreach and education
  • Resources explaining how Somalia’s legal system works

Other Legal Aid Providers

Several organizations in Somalia provide legal assistance to those in need. These include:

  • International and local NGOs with legal aid programs
  • UN agencies providing legal support to refugees and displaced persons
  • University law clinics offering supervised student representation

If you know of a legal aid organization that should be listed here, please let us know.

For Lawyers

If you are a legal professional interested in providing pro bono services, SICLE can connect you with clients who need assistance. Contributing pro bono hours is a meaningful way to serve your community and strengthen access to justice in Somalia.
