Pro Bono Legal Services
SICLE believes that access to justice should not be limited by financial means. We coordinate and support pro bono legal work by connecting lawyers who want to serve their communities with Somalis who need legal help but cannot afford representation.
How It Works
Our pro bono initiative is built on a simple premise: experienced lawyers volunteer their time to help those in need. This is not a government-funded program. It is legal professionals choosing to serve their fellow citizens.
When someone needs legal assistance but lacks resources, they can contact SICLE. We assess the situation and connect them with a lawyer in our network who has relevant experience and availability. The lawyer provides services at no cost to the client.
Areas of Need
Pro bono lawyers in our network have helped with matters including:
- Family disputes and custody issues
- Property and land ownership conflicts
- Employment and labor matters
- Civil disputes between individuals
- Assistance for refugees and internally displaced persons
- Criminal defense for those who cannot afford representation
For Lawyers
If you are a legal professional and want to contribute pro bono hours, SICLE can connect you with cases that match your expertise. Pro bono work is recognized and honored within our community. It is part of what it means to be a legal professional serving Somalia.

Community Partnerships
SICLE works with community organizations, NGOs, and local leaders to identify legal needs and reach those who may not know help is available. If your organization serves underrepresented communities and could benefit from legal support, we welcome the opportunity to partner.
